Interview
I applied to work at the Home Depot and was called in to an interview about 6 weeks later. The interview was completely scripted and no variation was allowed and was done by an asst mgr. I was called back a few days later and rearranged my schedule so that I could meet with the store manager. I showed up a little early .. and waited and waited and waited for over an hour. Finally, a dept supervisor was asked to see me. The poor guy had no idea what he was supposed to do, other than we both figured out he was supposed to give me a form to complete allowing for a background check and also he gave me a form to take to get a drug test. Just as I was leaving, the store manager showed up. He had apparently decided that getting lunch was more important then meeting with he. He made me go in the office and spewed off some generic speel. I asked what position I was being offered and the pay. It was for a garden associate at the pay was under $10/hour. I thought is stunk, but took the job because I needed the insurance.
I was not pleased about the store manager not being respectful enough to be on time (he was over 1.5 hours late), and he did not even apologize. I hoped that my first impression of him was wring, but unfortunately, it was completely correct and I learned the hard way.

Interview
I applied online and received an e-mail a few weeks later detailing that I would be contacted by the HR dept. I called the number provided in the e-mail answered some automated questions and was transfered to a person who asked a couple of customer service related questions: "How have you provided excellent customer service in the past?, What can you offer Home Depot?" etc. After conducting the phone interview I was told that they would like to set up a 1:1 interview, they didn't have any times available but I received an automated phone call about 30 minutes with times I could schedule an interview. Currently I am waiting to have my face-to-face interview.

I applied online and got an automated call the next day arranging a phone interview for 2 days later. The Assistant manager called me three days later and set up a drug screen for that day. I waited 7 days to get the results back and then was called in for a 1 on 1 interview with the Manager. He asked me about my customer service experience and offered me the job.
