I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Thoughtworks in Jul 2015
Interview
There were several rounds I had to go through:
- An initial Skype interview with a couple of experience designers. The questions focused on which areas in the design spectrum I had experience with as well as why I was interested in working at ThoughtWorks. They also had a look at my website and asked me to take them through a few of the projects I had worked on.
- A coding test. As I understand it, this is not given to all XDs, only those who claim experience in dev. It was very easy, just testing knowledge of HTML and CSS for prototyping.
- A cultural interview. In this one, the interviewers were trying to access whether I was a good fit for ThoughtWorks from a values/general attitude point of view.
- A Wonderlic test.
- An XD interview where I was given several design challenges. I would say this one was the most difficult as it really puts you on the spot, but at the end of the day they are trying to see your thought process and making sure you don't jump into rushed conclusions.
- A visual design challenge where I had to do a redesign of an app ThoughtWorks had previously created.
- A management interview with a member of the leadership team.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
We are X client and need a solution for X product. Design it.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Thoughtworks (Bengaluru) in Jun 2012
Interview
Starts with Telephonic interviews followed by in person interviews. Most exciting part is the design exercise given during the interview process. Got to meet different profiles and understand how they work. Got an opportunity to ask questions. Most valuable was the feedback that the lead designer gave me on my skills and how to improve on them. Never been to an interview like this. Polite and lovely folks. Wanna join the tribe someday when I;m ready.
