There were 2 rounds of interviews. They included standard questions as well as specifics to the area within the US Department of State that I applied to. Once, I got an offer, I only had 3 days to respond yes or no to the offer.

I interviewed for multiple offices. The first interviewer called me late and asked irrelevant/social questions. My second experience was a positive experience, asking about my academic research and international experience. The interviewer was very well-informed and interested in hearing about my experience.

It was a on one interview with country desk officer who was also supervisor for internship. In general interviews are over the phone as all of the offices/bureaus are trying to secure their top choice before other offices can get you.
