Panel interview with three people over MS Teams. No feedback or chit chat between answers per hiring policy. The people interviewing me were the people I worked with when I was brought onto the team.
Recommend applying via USAJobs. Alternative is fellowships and internships. Interviews vary based on need and office. My experience went I was first starting out was always very positive and professional.

Interview
I didn’t even have formal interviews for my last two job changes within State. One was lateral and one was a promotion. I’ve had colleagues have many interviews that were applying for similar jobs using the same types of hiring mechanisms that experienced totally different hiring processes based on the hiring manager and attentiveness of HR specialists involved. Every experience is different. If you get an activist hiring manager he could put though the ringer.
