The interview at UBS for an IT Manager role, but it did not go as expected. The questions were not particularly technical or IT-focused, leaning more toward generic management topics. This left little room to demonstrate my technical expertise, making the experience somewhat disappointing.

This is really subjective and specific to the role - there are good hiring managers who know how to interview, and a lot of the contrary. HR are usually pretty good and supportive, but everything by the book.

Fortunately I was already in before they started requiring psychometric testing in addition to traditional interview practices. I seriously question the value of this practice and wonder how many good people were not hired as a result, or, how many book-smart-only people get because they are good at these things.
