I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at UBS (New York, NY) in Feb 2012
Interview
Was referred by current analyst in the team outside of the regular recruiting cycle when a slot opportunistically opened up. The process consisted of one phone interview that was mostly behavioral oriented, and one in-person interview at UBS' office in new york with 4 interviewers and a mix of behavioral and technical questions.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Standard questions about interest in the job, background, and valuation methodologies
Informal and 50/50 split between behavioral and technical. Consisted of 4 phone calls with various members of the team, starting with director, and then Senior Associate, and then Analyst for the more technical interview.
Standard technicals, but not the best culturally. Asked to walk through M&A transaction, as well as mental math. Asked to talk to previous experiences, particularly past technical experience. Very very serious.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Mental math IE- a rope burns from two ends at 30 minutes... etc
2 rounds with one senior and one junior, overall questions are general.
Need some understanding on the sector to be covered. And also some technical questions.
But the chemistry did not went well.
