The interview got two rounds. First I was interviewed by the project manager and one of the developers. They were professional in their approach. After giving me a brief overview on the job description and the project; the project manager let the developer to ask technical questions. The interview last for 2 hours. It was an average interview with not-so-tough grilling happened. I couldn't perform better because of lack of preparation. Apart from that the interview went well.
The second round was with the Director and another experienced Software Engineer from the team. They were interviewing me to narrow down their choice as they had another candidate to consider as well. The director was to the point and asked me about the reason why I am looking for this new job. Seems, he was looking for the passion and drive within me towards this job. I explained my scenario, he seemed not convinced. Then again its time for a technical interview. The software engineer interviewed me for half an hour. Some of them were competency questions. I prepared very well this time on how to approach and answer these questions. But a sheer nervousness occupied my mind. Although I answered many of the questions with the right answers; they were not structured enough for a role of Associate Director. And I saw that on both the faces of interviewers. The director stopped the interview at 50 mins - although 10 mins more left for the interview to get completed. He told frankly that he believes the other candidate whom they interviewed the last day, was the perfect choice. I was disappointed. But to cheer me up he said that the process is not over yet and he'll look for any other opportunities, if possible.
Overall it was professional interview process. The recruiter and the interviewers were nice to me. As I couldn't live up to their expectation, I failed to get the job.
