I applied through college or university. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at UBS (Long Beach, CA) in May 2014
Interview
The whole process took a long time, but it was very simple. They call you after submitting the resume and make sure you sound professional and enthusiastic about the position (because you'll spend majority of your time on the phone). Then you go to their office in Long Beach for the actual interview, and their office is nice and spacious. The only reason why it took so long to get the position was that they want to only have certain number of interns working at the same time, so by the time I started, one of the interns were getting ready to leave.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at UBS
Interview
Started off with a phone interview. Mostly behavioral and the basic phone interview questions. Asked about school, major, background, experience, etc. Pretty easy phone interview. Next I was invited into the office for an in-person interview. Met with the senior vice president of the specific office I was applying for and the client service associate. Was asked some technical questions regarding wealth management and my overall finance background. Overall the interview process was pretty easy.
