I applied through a recruiter. The process took 6 months. I interviewed at US Air Force (Phillips Ranch, CA)
Interview
The hiring process was incredibly streamlined. I can not imagine what can occur going into the recruitment office now. I was told that there were no open positions for a 6 month period, but that I could take the ASVAB exam to determine if I should even wait around for an opening to come up. Fortunately I scored in the 94th percentile and was able to wait for 6 months.

Your recruiter has a series of questions he/she will ask you. Everything from school, hobbies, to known friends of criminal records. You will have to take the ASVAB test which will limit you to what jobs you may apply for.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at US Air Force (Spokane, WA)
Interview
Get a decent score on the ASVAB and pass a physical and a background check, and you're in. Select what you'd like to do, based on what your ASVAB score qualifies you for, and then apply for a date to leave for Basic Training. A lot of paperwork is involved, but there's nothing in the interview process to be concerned about.
