Interview
ASVAB, MEPS, BMT, Tech School. The overall process is quite easy and doesn't take a college education to accomplish. The structure of the military lets anyone succeed. Stationed in England and Boston each for 2 years and was able to travel the world. Excellent gig for someone who graduated with 12 people in small town Texas.

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 5 months. I interviewed at US Air Force
Interview
Recruiters find you or you find them. MEPS initially screens you health and test scores, Basic Training Screens your ability to learn under pressure considering that you learn it there. Tech school tests you just as any trade school would. My advice, just jump through those hoops without failing and your in.
I applied in-person. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at US Air Force (Florence, KY) in Jan 2017
Interview
You talk to a recruiter and they talk with you to assess your temperment, qualifications, and basic personal history. They will schedule you for the ASVAB test which determines what jobs you qualify for. Then what jobs you can select depends on the govt's needs and how long you are willing to wait to get the job you want.
