I applied in-person. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at US Army
Interview
I visited my local recruiting station a few times and spoke to a recruiter about the army. Looked at a few jobs, decided to be the real soldier and join the infantry. You might think it's cool, but now that I am coming out of the army, I basically have no real transferable skills to offer to employers and I am not specialized in any field other than security. My options now include going back to school full-time thanks to the G.I bill. Becoming a police officer. Or doing private contracting security. Not too bad, but I could have joined a technical job, in I.T or anything that pays really well in the civilian sector and made a really smooth transition. Just something to think about.
The process took 1 day. I interviewed at US Army (Boston, MA) in Jun 2012
Interview
There wasn't an interview process with the military. you go to the recruiters office sign the papers and wait for your date to go basic training. The Army has a clear cut process on getting soldiers who are going as enlisted or officer.

Interview
I went to MEPS and signed a contract, they ran some medical test , had me take a placement test. and had me pick an assignment, I spoke with a recruiter, then a career advisor, all of this seemed like a very smooth process of hurry up and wait
