I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at US Navy (West Palm Beach, FL) in Aug 2012
Interview
Long medical, background, and education checks. Initial interviews with a recruiter followed by application through the Military Entrance Processing centers. Obviously there were drug tests before hand and also screening for tattoos. This is for basic entry into the Navy. Higher clearance levels require more thorough screenings.

Interview
I sent off a flyer I had received through the mail to receive more information and a recruiter initially contacted me via phone and then visited my home to meet and conduct an initial screening. After screening I went to recruiting station to finish more questions and paperwork. Then weeks later I went to MEPS to conduct a health screening and take a job placement exam (asvab). After job placement I left for bootcamp months later.

Interview
The interview is more like a screening to see if you will make it into the Navy. They do not ask traditional interview questions just more so of what kind of legal troubles you have been in or if you have tattoos. You are required to take a test but that is only to see what jobs you qualify for.
