I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at US Navy (Tampa, FL) in Aug 2011
Interview
Interviewing for the Navy isn't exactly a difficult process. The recruiters want you (they have quotas to fill) so unless you have some severe problems, you will power through the process. You take a test, maybe take another test, and talk to a dozen or so people about what you want to do and why you want to do it. You'll see the options and finally make a decision, you get sworn in, and the rest is pretty much not up to you.

Interview
Lots of paperwork and false pretense fed to you by recruiter. Know what you want, research it and don't accept no for an answer. They are clever and will promise you the world.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 12 months. I interviewed at US Navy (Richmond, VA) in Jan 2011
Interview
Just went in to talk to a recruiter to see what the requirements were and he told me graduate high school and stay out of trouble. Then I took a pre test. There was your basic math and reading questions. I did well on that and waited a year to actually join and take the real asvab test because I was in the eleventh grade.
