Applied to online position -> spoke with prospective supervisor on email & phone -> recommended for panel interview -> went, did brief presentation on what I thought I might do (which turned out to bare only a tangential relation to what I did, but that's how PhDs go) -> got position

Interview
Online application and then invited for a group interview. You are asked to prepare a 2 minute explanation of who you are, why you choose Exeter and a a fact about yourself. Then asked to answer a question about the university randomly selected out of a bag as if being asked by a parent on an open day and then a group activity where you brainstorm how you would handle /present on either an open day or at widening participation around the country.

Online application on web portal, contacted two weeks after deadline and panel interview conducted within the month. Typical questions, however, targeted questions included about my prior research experience which were easily answered.
