      Executive Assistant Interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Walmart in Nov 2020

      Interview

I'll preface that I'm not giving a negative review because I didn't get the job, rather it was the last interaction I had with Walmart that left such a bad taste. Initially the interview process was great. The recruiter reached out to me to describe the role and opportunity. It sounded like a great fit. I went through a series of individual interviews, panel interview, then they wanted me to meet with a couple more people. All along I felt interviews were mutually beneficial, learning about each other and envisioning the role and opportunity coming into focus. Last interview was just before the new year, then radio silence. Understandable to an extent; end of year with people on vacation, returning to work and picking up again. But this was different, like I'd been ghosted. Several emails sent to follow up on where we were at with my candidacy. If they weren't interested, tell me so and we'll all move on. I've gone through similar, intensive, interview processes before, and everyone that wasn't an offer ended with either the lead recruiter or someone from talent acquisition team reaching out to talk to me in person, deliver the news that they're going with another candidate, but at least a human connection to wrap things up. Not with Walmart, after the recruiter finally got back in touch saying they were going to regroup after everyone was back in the office, and for me to hold on... I received a trite, system-generated email notifying me that I was not being considered for this role any longer. Again, it's not that I didn't land the role, but the lack of humane correspondence given that I've been engaged in real, human-to-human, conversation with several team members for months, only to receive the form email stating I'm no longer a candidate; this makes Walmart appear as a company that lacks empathy, compassion, and real interest in the very talent they are trying to entice to join their company. Here's the final email I received, and by the way, like who seriously is going to follow a company on their social media channels that just told you you're not a fit?! "Thank you for your interest. We appreciate the time you took to apply with us. At this time we have decided not to move forward with your application. This isn't the end, though! If a position opens that closely matches your skills and experience, we may contact you as we have new positions that open all the time. In the meantime, we encourage you to keep an eye on our career site for other opportunities with our company. We’d love to stay connected with you through our social media sites so you can get to know us better. We wish you all the best! Your Walmart Hiring Team This is an automated email - Please do not respond."

A lot of questions were situational, intended to prompt a response that would reveal my thinking, behaviors, motivations, actions and outcomes.

      Interview

This was a very upsetting and unprofessional interview experience, the team lacked communication throughout the entire process and rescheduled my interview with the executive multiple times. Executive was very serious and don’t believe I was given a fair chance at all.

      Interview

Very unprofessional company who lacked communication with me the entire interview process. The recruiter constantly rescheduled my interviews back to back and the executive I interviewed with didn’t seem a bit interested. I definitely believe their decision not to hire me was racially motivated. Terrible Terrible company to every work for, don’t bother even wasting your time applying.

I applied online. I interviewed at Walmart in Aug 2024

      Interview

When I was first contacted for interview, they asked for my availability for the following day. At the end of the first call with the recruiter, she asked for my availability the next day. It seemed very urgent for them to fill the role and the recruiter expressed they want to fill the role ASAP. I proceeded with the next interview. A week later, I followed up with the three recruiters, but I received no response. Despite pushing for immediate availability, they went silent when I reached out. Negative experience for the interview process as they did not provide me any update afterwards.
