What teaching experience do you have and in what areas? Are you available to teach on multiple sites?
Actually, none of the questions were unexpected or difficult. I had a problem deciding whether to tell them the answer I was taught to regurgitate when I was an education undergraduate or whether to tell them the methods and techniques I really use in the classroom now. I went with reality, but I didn't get the job. For example: Should every student be treated equally?
I brought in my teaching portfolio to prove to him that I had went through all the educational loops and experience. Not only did he view it, he also had me explain to him details of some of my experiences, some which dated back to almost 10 years ago to the present. My assumption for this was to see where I had started and where I was now with my teaching methods. This wasn't offensive, but shed light to myself on how far I had come in my knowledge and growth as a teacher.
The online application requests a social security number and a driver's license. That is a bit much when not filling out new hire paperwork.
Why do you want to teach here, how will you add to the team?
This focused on how I would address student concerns about moral or ethical conflicts regarding specific assignments of exercises such as figure drawing.
What's your experience with kids?
Having to create a syllabus and curriculum from scratch with no previous outline to follow or direction.
How would you determine if a class needs to be programmed? How would you instruct someone to center divs in CSS? Why would you want variables declared inside a function?
