I had a blackberry at the time and the hiring manager had an iPhone. I was quickly asked which of the two I preferred and why. The purpose of the question was to see why I had chosen the blackberry and to see if my answer included any technical reasons (resolution, qwerty keyboard, expandable memory capacity, etc)

Asked for 3 "character" references on an application to be filled out in a separate room (asking for name/address/phone)
Nothing out of the ordinary. It is better if you have direct industry experience.
