Motivation to pursue a career in teaching
If you have any awkward gaps in your resume or blips in your education - they will definitely ask you about it. I ended up attending three different universities before I managed to get my degree, and it was literally one of the first things they asked me about. The real reasons for my messy university career are not the kind of thing you want to discuss in an interview, so I struggled to gloss over it!
The only question I specifically remember is, "Would you be willing to teach in a location that requires you to drive a car?" (This would entail a right-hand-drive, traveling the left side of the road, and passing a test to get your Japanese license if you intend to stay for more than a year.) Among other things, you will most likely get asked to expand on your reasons for wanting to live in Japan, and for wanting to teach English specifically. None of the questions were particularly difficult or out-of-the-ordinary.
During the interview they asked about how well I handle children, which was a surprise as it seemed obvious that one should like children for this job, but be sure to prepare an answer for this.
