There was a lot more emphasis on academic chemistry background than the job description implied.

The most difficult questions I received were the follow-up questions asked during the phone interview. The questions were related to safety programs that I have little to no knowledge of, but they were listed on the job posting. I suggest reviewing the job posting thoroughly and becoming familiar with every aspect of it.
Some unexpected questions involved whether I was applying anywhere else. It caught me off guard so I answered it, but I wish I hadn't because that is not their business.
There were no tough questions. All technical questions were basic chemistry questions like what information does MS and HPLC give, name and properties of chemical groups, etc. Some of the other questions they asked were: how do you organize/prioritize your work, strengths and weaknesses, etc.
