Interview 3 was the final round with a Plural partner, at the office in London. Split into two sections, firstly a 45 minute independent written case, and then a 30-45 minute interview with the partner. This case was about suggesting 3 solutions to help a company boost profitability back to historic high levels. The information is presented in a scrambled manner and you must decipher it, combine relevant information and form recommendations. Very open-ended in the sense that more than 3 solutions can be provided, but there are definitely certain recommendations that Plural is looking for you to highlight and prioritise. Not highlighting these recommendations will hurt your chances. In terms of presenting the conclusions, it is a simple powerpoint slide that is pre-formatted, and you must state the main point of each recommendation, and then briefly justify it. Regarding the partner interview, it was quite a casual discussion lasting for 30-45 minutes. Starting by discussing the case and taking a deeper dive into your conclusions (tell me about your solutions, what are their pros and cons, how would you rank them from best to worst potential solution etc). Then motivational & competency questions (tell me about yourself, tell me about your previous experience, what skills are necessary for a consultant, which of those skills are your strengths etc). Pretty standard, no trick questions and I didn't receive any commercial awareness questions. However, the absolute most important is to link motivation for consulting and the role so it closely aligns with strategy consulting (Plural's main function), and with Plural & its values.
