Describe a time a project fell behind on budget or time. What steps did you take to mitigate the situation?
In general, a lot of discussion about agile PMing, the type of projects I've run and typical nuance that comes along with it (managing risks, timeline, tools, etc.).
Describe a time you had to give a customer bad news. How did you deliver the news? How did they respond?
There were two questions that were unexpected and stumped me a bit. I was not able to quickly come up with answers that could be positively spun, so if you are interviewing, think out answers for these: What would you change about your college experience? You do not want to seem like you could not make up your mind, you do not want to make your response about a personal situation or "I would have partied less and studied more". It was very difficult for me to come up with a satisfactory answer, and ultimately what I gave, think about it afterwards, may have raised some red flags unnecessarily. The second was: If you were talking to yourself before you started your previous position (not the current position you are in), what advise would you give. Again, it was a struggle to come up with something on the stop that was meaningful without sounding like you were bitching about a previous position.
What challenges did you face during your biggest project?
Conversion rate is down across the site by 3%. After some analysis, you realize the significant drop in conversion is coming from site visitors that access our site through Instagram ads. How would you work with the marketing team to fix the issue?
Did you impact a big decision, did you overcome adversity, have you taken the lead on a project, or how have you bounced back from a negative interaction, etc.
First question was about composing a text message and whether names should be listed and if commas should be used.
How would your previous experience directly correlate to the available position?
