What do you know about energy? What have you read in the news lately about it?
The most difficult question was testing my knowledge on flow battery systems, with which I had very little experience.
First explain your background and then I had to develop a microeconomics case about the pricing of licenses for taxis (which in a first stage are handed out for free) in a city and what you would do if you were the mayor of that city. The interview went okay but the exam was not that easy (1h15) as I hadn't studied pure microeconomics in 3 years. Also they had told me the exam would be multiple choice but in the end there were some open questions, and in my opinions a lot of questions were not very clear and could have ambiguous meanings.
Why Crisil? Why do you want to switch? Ratios? How do you conduct a market research? How do you track a metal/ any commodity? How do you track the pricing? Regulations that play role on a commodity? Marco's? How does the demand-supply get affected? Factors that affect demand supply Case study can also be given to check your analytical thinking?
Questions were highly technical: Do you know the operation of a Boost Converter? Do you know about Switching losses? Do you know how a PID controller operates. I had to stand on a whiteboard and explain with diagrams, equations, etc. I knew everything except the switching losses question.
There were many: How do you restore a broken working relationship? What approach do you take when there is a tight deadline? How do you persuade your boss with a different opinion to be on your side? How do you find your role in the team? What are your main responsibilities at the current role? What made you apply for this role, what will you bring to the role? How do you usually conduct research, what steps do you take, how do you structure your report. Have you ever surveyed people on the ground? Technical questions: Off-grid systems - what do you know about them, what that have you learnt in your current role? What do you think about SE4All? What do you know about it and its goals?
How familiar are you U.S. Energy Policy Standards?
