I entered the office and the head of the firm was introduced to me. He seemed already in a bad mood and was unprepared and rude. There wasnt even a place for me to sit so he had to take a pile of papers off a random chair in his office. I was abruptly asked "List every European Hedge Fund you know, the name of the manager and if the fund is good or bad. Ready? Set? Go!!!" I would start to say the name of a fund and he would interrupt and yell at me and say, "Next!" or "Pass!" Unlike every other interview where they want an indepth explanation of the reasons why you think the manager is good or not, this guy just wanted me to quickly call out a list of managers. That does not demonstrate anything at all. You could memorize a list of hedge funds that you got of the web. Then I was asked to come back and complete a writing sample. I could choose one of three topics and write one page and it was timed. That seemed pointless.
