The interview questions were pretty straight forward and were sent before the interview. 1. Take a few minutes and walk us through your GIS career history as a way of introduction. 2. Why this job, at this time? 3. What state will your desk/division/department be in when you leave your current job? 4. Describe you experience related to the day-to-day development, operation, and maintenance related to ArcGIS database. This may include, but not be limited to: A. Field data collection for accuracy of information; B. Reviewing and inputting as-built information; C. Coordinating updates with AutoCAD for engineering design work by others; D. Fulfilling data and map requests; E. Publishing updated map information for field staff; F. Maintaining data library; and G. Representing data as layers files. 5. Describe your experience with AutoCAD. 6. Describe a decision you have made where an employee/coworker/supervisor has successfully changed your mind about the best way to do something. 7. What would your superiors/subordinates/peers say about you? 8. Describe a particularly challenging situation that you handled well, and one that you handled not so well (and what you learned from it). 9. Give us an example that would show that you’ve been able to develop and maintain productive relations with others, though there were differing points of view. 10. Tell us about a specific project or program that you were involved with that resulted in improvement in a major work area. 11. Describe for us a time when you had to make an important decision with limited facts. 12. Tell us about a situation in which you were able to find a new and better way of doing something significant. 13. Tell us about a time when you accomplished something significant that wouldn’t have happened if you had not been there to make it happen. 14. Describe a time for us when you may have been disappointed in your work behavior. 15. Tell us about a goal that you set that took a long time to achieve or that you are still working towards. 16A. Tell us about a time when you had to analyze facts quickly, define key issues, and respond immediately or develop a plan that produced good results. 16B. If you could do that activity over again, how would you do it differently? 17. Tell us about a situation where you had to be persuasive and sell your ideal to some else. 18. There may be times when employees are asked to come in early or stay late. There may also be occasional weekend and holiday work. There may also be times where you are asked to respond to an emergency after hours. Would you be available for work under these circumstances? 19.
