The question "What is your classroom management style?" was not unexpected, but the response was surprising. When I enumerating my management techniques (eye contact, conferencing with a student in the hall, contacting parents...), the interviewer replied that most of those techniques would not be required in China because there were few management issues there (only one-minute detentions would be occasionally necessary). In reality, I found that there were different management issues in a Chinese classroom (students sleeping, not wearing uniforms...)
