Two questions come to mind. The "most difficult" question was pretty standard, asking about an obstacle I had encountered on a project and how did I resolve it. The "unexpected" question, coming from HR, provided the hourly wage and asked if this was acceptable; I previously expected that discussion about money didn't occur until after receiving a job offer.
Why did you choose your major?
They asked about the course in Material Science Engineering that I took and what subjects were covered. I had to abound a little in the subjects and terminology I mentioned.
