You have a piece of rope that when lit takes one hour to burn. A second piece of rope takes 2 hours to burn. We can't assume they burn evenly, ie. cutting the 2 hour rope in half will not create two 1 hour rope. How can you make a time that is for 45 minutes.

You have 9 bottles filled with 100 pills each. Each pill weighs 5 grams but one bottle is "bad" and contains pills weighing 6 grams. You have a scale that only has enough battery power left to weigh one time. Find the bad bottle.
