It is a highly autonomous position. Are you okay with self motivation to get a job done?
Do you have references? What is the most important thing for a software tester? What do you think a lead software tester does? Which methodology do you prefer? What tools did you use when testing? How did you perform each test? Where is your school located? What year did you graduate? Show me how to secure a server running ASP.net. (Paper and pen was pushed across the table.) Do you have any questions for us? *Bait and Switch seems to be common for Local and State tech positions (at least for me). Be prepared to answer non related questions if you have additional skills not required for the job. In my case, I was only supposed to do "entry level" functions ( presentations, budget journals, UPK recordings, etc.). However, none of my interview question were related to the job description. In other words, I came in to work as a "project assistant" and interviewed as if I was tester or software engineer.
Process, core knowledge, basic skills etc
Please describe a time when you had to create and follow through a testing compliance initiative.
They asked questions about my background. Nothing different. Interview was with 5 interviewee and half hour with each of them. It was little lengthy. No unique questions. All questions were asked pretty much common like how you started career, why do you look for new job, why you want to leave current job. They explained me their company situation and mentioned that it is still startup company. Also they explained their change management process. One interviewee also asked me very technical question about lab and how to make people stop for deleting files from desktop. I found some irrelevant questions with last interviewee. Overall it was ok interview. I provided all answers per my skill. They were looking for someone who was expert in change management and I had that experience. I worked on change management for several years and became System Owner of it. Even through they rejected me. Just advice that if you go for interview, prepare to answer everything. They will ask you irrelevant questions and expect you to know everything.
