Why should we hire you?
Given a range of numbers ordered from 1 to 1 million, what is the most efficient method to find a number that is missing within the range.
The most difficult in that interview is linked list, although it's not difficult at all. The quesiton is to remove all even numbers from the linked list
The hardest part to grasp was that I never got a chance interview for that role (which was my area of interest) because of bad weather. How is that my fault?
What do you do when there is no Answer?
Competency based questions: tell us a time when you had a tight deadline and how you overcame that (time management and organisation); tell us a time when you had to make a difficult decision; views on the use of animals in science?
CV based questions included: what is your biggest achievement to date; tell us about your previous work experience; tell us about *so-and-so* module on your course, what did you learn in this module and what lab experiments did you do?
The interviewer had the code from the previous interviewee still on the white board in the room. He asked me to identify what the code did (printed the contents of a binary tree through a BFS using a queue). Then asked me to identify the bugs with the code and suggest how to fix it (null-pointer exceptions when printing out the values from the queue and checking for nulls before adding a value to the queue).
In the MAC interview I was asked what attracted me to the role, what does customer service look like to you, what is the history of MAC, what can you bring to the team, give me an example of a time you gave excellent customer service, what are your strengths and weaknesses, what would you do to make sure the customer gets excellent service before leaving the store? In the store approval I was asked about my previous experience (if you have retail/customer service background they love it) how would you deal with an angry customer? describe customer service in three words? why should we employ you?
