Network Operation Interview Questions

447 network operation interview questions shared by candidates

The role is more focused on software engineering, leaving little room for a Network Engineer to contribute their ideas to the team. In the first round, the questions were all about networking. They gave me an open network scenario, and you had to explain how the traffic flows and what protocols were required. The first round was fine. However, the second interview round was a bit confusing. They provided an open canvas and expected me to design the entire Trade Desk network from scratch in just one hour. It wasn't overly difficult, but there were no clear instructions, and the interviewer didn’t seem to have a proper framework for evaluating candidates. The third round was onsite and felt like a complete waste. I expected to be given a coding task where I could demonstrate my Python skills, but instead, they presented their own code. I was only asked to discuss what to add or remove from it. It was confusing because I was unfamiliar with their coding style, which made it difficult to follow. Overall, the process felt like a waste of my time and energy. I believe they should rename this position to 'Senior DevOps Engineer' and focus on hiring software engineering candidates since they clearly gave less emphasis to networking concepts.
