Case study questions: Q1. UK adult citizens who wish to travel abroad require a passport with a 10-year validity. Child passports expire after five years. How would you forecast the demand for new and replacement passports over the next 15 years? Q2. You are supporting a policy lead in the Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government. The government needs to ensure that the supply of housing matches demand, both now and in the future. A housing strategy will need to take into consideration where houses should be built, and what type of housing is needed. Recommend an analytic approach to help the policy lead understand the need for future house building in England. Describe the objective of your approach, which techniques it relies on, how it works, what factors and interactions it considers and why it is appropriate for this problem. Q3. You are asked to provide forecasts of the number of student places required in teacher training establishments over the next five years. How would you approach this task?
