When was a time where you had to be a leader
They asked me about something unrelated to the job to assess my learning ability. I found it odd and not very productive.
What are you looking to learn?
Standard HR and some technical question such as: Give an example of a time when you had to solve a technical problem?
Telephone interview: -Why choice of degree and university? -Where do you see yourself in 5 years time? -What do you know about Petroleum Experts? -Why are you suitable for the position? Technical group exercise: -What is pressure at the bottom of a cylinder filled with water and does it change when you add sand into it? -Information of an oil reservoir was given and was asked whether you find gas on top of the oil when you drill? And does injection of water or gas improves oil recovery? Technical individual test: -Does water level change when an ice cube floating on top melts? -Does water level change when few stones floating in a container on top are thrown to the water? -Relationship between pressure and temperature of a gas when it expands. -How does an air plane fly? -Is an isolated system a reversible system? -Newtonian law of motion? -Thermodynamics laws? -Equation of state? Group discussion: -Donald Trump is the most diplomatic president in the history of the US. Do you agree or disagree? - Some states of the US have legalised marijuana. Is this a wise decision?
The management team like to think they are being super smart by asking you to sit a series of tests. They will try and suggest it is to see how you react and testing your resilience if you score low. But really they just bullying you into “a 15 year old is smarter than you”. Every single person I was with on the day were questioning why they were there. Be prepared to made to feel small and bullied by a misogynistic CEO and technical director.
