They wanted to find out how I fit into the lab, what things I could achieve in the lab

There were no difficult questions. All questions pertained to my background and familiarity with particular scientific techniques. There were no surprises; the questions were straight-forward.
The department chair asked me what I wanted to do with my career. This is the question you have to answer honestly to get the most out of the interview.
