They asked a mix of behavioral and technical questions. For behavioral, they asked things like, 'Tell me about a time you faced a challenging analytical problem and how you resolved it' or 'Describe a time you had to work under pressure to meet a deadline.' On the technical side, they focused heavily on gas chromatography, asking things like, 'How would you optimize a GC method for separating similar compounds?' or 'Can you interpret this chromatogram and identify potential issues?' They also wanted to assess my overall skills, asking about my experience with analytical instruments, method development, and how I ensure accuracy in data analysis. The entire process was very detailed and intense.
