How would you handle the following scenarios? A family doctor says a child’s immunizations are up-to-date, but the dates do not meet requirements of state immunization law. A 7 year old student recently diagnosed with Diabetes has enrolled in your school. The parent firmly states that the child is independent in managing her diabetic care. What would you do? A parent indicates that a student has a peanut allergy. They say an Epipen has not been ordered and they have not pursued it that far. They don’t feel it’s a big deal, they know what an Epipen is, but don’t think it’s needed, and even if the doctor said it was, they wouldn’t be able to afford it. What would you do? A 14 year old student is being evaluated for possible seizures. The teacher has approached you indicating that the student appears to be daydreaming in their class. When you question the student, the student indicates that they do not recall the events. As a nurse what do you think could be occurring to this student and what would be the next steps?
