They asked for home assignment with 3 duties only - deploy simple app in Kubernetes (they asked to provide the commands or the yaml files only) - a prometheus and grafana pod deployment - how to build SLO for it But inside the interview they expected much much more than what they asked in the assignment In the interview when they discussed the assignment and in the feedback they provided later they expected me to provide dozens of things that they did not ask for Although I added myself - without request - some useful tools like Git repo custom built image CI/CD pipeline with Gitlab secret keys persistent volumes They asked me in depth questions about these extra stuff I done voluntarily They expected me to provide them more than what they asked and although the whole assignment time is about 2 hours ONLY They expected complete monitoring system They expected a completed CI/CD pipeline They expected an external key management system They expected to see live output! Live output requires that I rent servers and pay for them So they want you to pay for number of servers to perform the assignment (they don't reimburse you for that) They expected that you build for them complete app cluster with; monitoring, external key system, backup and restore plans in place, ci/cd pipeline valid for production, best practices and all that to do it in 2 hours !!!! One of the team members asked: How to make keys more secure and although I answered him that the keys I used (here was Kubernetes secrets) in the assignment was for demonstration ONLY and that in actual work and production environment I would use much more secure and robust system like: HashiCorp Vault or AWS KMS and he kept asking me the same question again (how to make use of an external secret system)?!!! which I have already answered And in the final feedback I still said that I did not show experience in handling secret keys!!!! I worked 10 years in Kubernetes and Docker and I used Vault in my previous work with massive German company and despite that he still saying I showed lack of experience in it The feedback they provided about me is completely wrong and a lie They did not even mention any positive thing in what i done complete project with deployment with multi containers/pods volumes secrets services / network AWS CI/CD pipeline They did NOT find in all that any positive aspect or relevant experience very dishonest and I really wasted my time with such company
