On assessment day, it started with everyone and this including the applicants who were successful through the video-interview, however, it was not possible to make out how many of the participants were applicants and how many were employees of the company taking part in this process and we were all asked to mute our microphone initially and only respond when our name is called. The person behind the podium gave everyone two options to choose from and asked them which one would they rather by first calling out their name. Some of those options were fun such as, Michael: Would you rather eat the mix of food items in Group-A or Group-B, and some of the options were more odd such as, Rebecca: If your personal information were to be leaked to the public, would you rather it to be the information about your financial details or details about your love-life. Around 15 to 25 participant's names were called out and every person was given a different set of choices to choose from. Once this activity was over we had a 2-minute break for refreshments followed by the next activity which was also a group activity. This activity was an open-microphone activity where everyone was allowed to jump in at will whenever they wished to express or say what they think. The exercise involved an allocated budget of 1.6 million, allowed for the purchase of a new office location. This exercise involved 2 steps of which each step had a number of options to choose from. The items (total of 3 items) in step-1 pertained to the office building and it's location location and the associated cost of which the most expensive option was 1 million dollars which was close to all amenities such as public transport etc. which most participants who wanted to speak expressed that they would choose this option given it is the most convenient location to commute to. The items (roughly 10 items) in step-2 pertained to cost of added amenities such as cost of building a ramp for wheelchair accessibility, cost of a good WiFi connection etc. The sum of the cost of the entire available options in step-2 (which were additives to provide better amenities for the building) added up to 640 thousand dollars which were 40 thousand dollars over the allocated budget given in step-1, 1 million dollars were to be spent on purchasing the new building, and participants then had to express their opinion on which items in step-2 they would include/exclude in the office-building considering the budget constraint. Once this exercise was over everyone was then allowed to take another small break before every applicant was paired with an assessor for this exercise I was to leave my camera open without actually seeing the assessor on the other end but only hearing his voice (I'm not sure why I felt that maybe he just wasn't comfortable being on camera). In this stage the assessor and I took part in 4 different activities and those were in this particular order: 1. Shape Drawing Activity (actively listening to instructions in order to draw a shape consisting of a number of straight lines drawn in various directions and only asking questions where you find something that was said confusing) 2. Customer vs. Consultant role play activity. 3. Activity where you are required to read a perceived fashion company guidelines and instructions and accordingly compose and send an email response to a customer's complaint received online which is a page long written text and this must be completed under a time constraint of only 10 minutes. 4. Comprehension exercise where you are allowed to take time to read 4 paragraphs of written text about the company followed by a multiple choice questionnaire to test your understanding of the text you just read. An example of this is, Text: "we are looking for candidates who are passionate, dedicated and resilient", Question: "We are looking for candidates who can also be described as: A) Excited, keen and happy B) Punctual, reliable and hard working C) Eager, committed and adaptable D) Flexible, indifferent and passable." Another example is Text: "Our company has an expectation that those people who are successful in obtaining a role with us will be in at least 18 months before looking to explore further internal opportunities, as we want to make sure they have a thorough understanding of the role and the business, as it can be complex to understand, but certainly gets easier over time." Question: "In the 3rd paragraph, the word ‘thorough’ can also be replaced with: A) Partial B) Staple C) Strenuous D) Rigorous" As far as the assessment goes these were all the activities and once it was over, I then were paired with an interviewer where I could this time also see her video on the other end as oppose to the assessor where I could only hear his voice. I really connected with the interviewer and felt at ease during the interview where the interview questions were also very similar to the questions I was given in the initial video-interview before the
