The second long form question - step tracing through a program - is a challenge as the time allotted is limited and there are multiple variables to keep track of. While not conceptually hard to understand, it does require a thorough process of jotting every execution step down, in case you need to backtrace an error in case your output doesn't match at the given checkpoint values.
