While we don’t recommend having a canned response for every interview question (in fact, please don’t), we do recommend spending some time getting comfortable with what you might be asked, what hiring managers are really looking for in your responses, and what it takes to show that you’re the right person for the job.

First, the HDP building is quite a dungeon itself. Terrible work atmosphere . Dark, poor lighting and small cubicles like IT BPOs are the highlights. I already have worked for 2+ years in bigdata domain and had in total of 6+ yrs exp. The first round was about one shell problem (related to finding jar files and replacing a pattern) and one python problem regarding reconstructing a file content from a given map inputs. Then there were questions on yarn architecture. During the interview i did felt that the interviewer was more interested in showing his knowledge of hadoop/yarn rather than evaluating me. The second round was by a person who was evaluating me on UI automation and selenium architecture. He asked me to write test cases on a typical ecommerce website that involved different tabs and pages. I made certain assumptions and proceeded with test cases. During the discussions i was questioned why I made certain assumptions and that why I didn't discuss with the interviewer before making this assumption. The third round was by an interviewer who tested me with algorithms and data structures. To my surprise I was not provided with eclipse IDE. The interviewer haphazardly opened intelliJ and tried to setup a project wherein I could code. Alas, he couldn't do that also ! Finally I had to write java program in a vi editor , compile , run and debug. That was the most embarrassing moment during the interview that I felt. I was running short on time and had to catch the flight so my interview terminated early. The HR told me that he would contact me in few days . I didn't bother at all for his call. After few days I received an email that I have been rejected. Good riddance ! After that , I did prepare well and finally landed up in an MNC with a very lucrative offer which HDP could provide me in like say 4-5 years from now, that too if I am good in internal politics. My interview experience was terrible and I am very glad that I did not land up here. But I could really feel that the place is not at all conducive for disciplined people or people looking to enter a new domain or learn something new. Clearly stay away from HDP if you wish to learn something new even though you are fast learner.
