SnailMail Express - Logistics TAM Interview You are a Logistics Technical Account Manager at Altana. One of your largest accounts is SnailMail Express, a large express carrier. After Altana successfully implemented their initial product, leadership has introduced you to a new HS Classification opportunity to expand business into their largest market, Escargonia. SnailMail Express Data Assessment: [Excel sheet attached separately] Background: ● SnailMail Express’ Escargonian team requested Altana do a 300 shipment proof of concept with our classifier to build trust and determine if Altana’s output is “defensible” and therefore compliant with ICS2 legislation ● With the new legislation, Escargonia’s team now has to classify every inbound shipment which is 5x what they currently are doing, and they need to find a solution that allows them to scale faster and remain compliant ● SnailMail Escargonia currently has a team of 100, full time customs brokers who classify 200,000 shipments daily ● The audience for your presentation is a SnailMail group of Escargonian based customs brokers and customs executives The Assessment: ● Altana has run the SnailMail shipments through the Altana HS6 classifier, which can provide a classification in 500 milliseconds ● The Altana classifier output its top 5 HS6 classification predictions along with the associated confidence in accuracy for each prediction ● Altana’s team of Customs Brokers (Subject Matter Experts) then assessed the Altana model performance vs. the classifications provided by SnailMail for the 300 shipments and provided some insights within the attached spreadsheet ● SnailMail also provided their own “SnailMail Express Provided HS Code” which was manually done and classified by a licensed customs broker on the SnailMail team – each classification takes roughly 2 minutes to complete The Presentation ● Create a presentation leveraging the data from the supporting spreadsheet ● Summarize your findings and walk the SnailMail team through Altana’s process for the Proof of Concept ● This presentation should create urgency to SnailMail’s leadership for why they need to find a solution, and why Altana’s solution is the appropriate one ● Share any additional insights or areas of concern or opportunity After your presentation, please also send a follow-up email to your interviewers in the same way you would follow up after a customer meeting.
