It was not a very formal telephone call. The only thing I was asked at the end of the call was my salary expectations / current salary - which immediately put into an 'out of reach' category, which I said I would be willing to flex for.

The interview at the AC was conducted by a director and a senior employee of the FCA in strategy and competition. it was entirely competency based, i.e. they quiz you on each of their values e.g. making good judgement calls in a complex situation. not many opportunities to display commercial awareness as they didn't ask me why i want to work for the FCA or about issues in financial conduct in general, but did ask why strategy and competition. Case study: played the role of a salesman for a generic company, offering a package deal to a customer. have to tailor the product to customer's requirements, and account for time limits, budget etc. then new information comes in later and you have to adjust your presentation and report for this. fairly standard case study. case study presentation happens soon after, after which you are quizzed by 2 people presumably from HR. group exercise: work with your group to develop a product e.g. app or holiday package, or to solve a business problem e.g. budgetary issue and efficiency etc. they tell u that you'll be presenting but you won't and they'll tell u this is as if it's a 'curveball' halfway through. slightly awkward as there is an individual assessor for each person in the group sitting in the corner of each room, but not that much of a distraction.
