Pros

Great company to work for! Coming from another well known grocery store chain, I can tell that by working here the company actually cares for the people who work for them. The benefits are great from 401k, insurance(health, dental, life), paid vacation and sick time, etc.. My manager personally is amazing, we are taught new things everyday in hopes to one day run our own stores.

Cons

Like i said working for the company is great but some days can be 12-15 hour work days just because of the amount of work that needs to be done and the lack of employees. So when we have different tasks that need to be done around the store with only 2 people working a 6 hour work day could quickly become a 12 hour work day. Sometimes it feels as if you are always in the store and never get a chance to be with your family. Even on off days you may sometimes be called in to help out around the store and you already usually only get one day off every week, well at my store(were under staffed). But to me the biggest con has to be the district managers. The DM i had when i first started was one of the greatest people i could have ever worked for but now they are hiring young adults straight out of college and they know nothing about the job. My DM now is at times very intimidating and comes off as not respectful to those under him. I feel like i have to tip toe around him and find myself trying to work around him as much as possible.

Pros

Great benefits, great pay, ability to make your own decisions, flexible work schedule most of the time unless you have other obligations outside of Aldi then you're frowned upon to request off, not open on major holidays and the holidays they are open, if you work them, its time and a half and scaled back hours.

Cons

You are demanded to work extremely hard for the pay, very little work/life balance, manager may ask you to stay past your shift or to come in early before your shift and sometimes your days off don't happen, not guaranteed 40 hours a week sometimes you only work 25 a week, ALOT of unnecessary daily paperwork, you are held responsible for what your other coworkers don't finish, managers only use your strengths and don't work with you on your weaknesses, required to help out other stores when needed and you need to sleep with your phone on your pillow incase the alarm company calls to disable an alarm going off for no reason at 2am!

Pros

Above average pay, but that's because you do the work of multiple people. I enjoy that intensity. This job is not for everyone, it's not a typical grocery store operation and the public seems to think we get to "sit in the chair", that is probably the number one misconception about any position at Aldi. If you're not a fast moving multi tasking master of all, do not come to Aldi, you'll just drag the rest of us down trying to pick up your slack.

Cons

Nearly impossible to be promoted any higher than shift manager. If you're looking for advancement opportunity, keep moving.
