Pros

You are never bored and the days fly by. For retail work the money is way better than average and the store close at a decent hour. The benefits aren't bad, but not great, and once you get established as a manager and prove you know what you are doing they tend to give you a wider berth to operate within. The DM's handle the hiring process, including the background check and drug testing along with all the new hire paper work.

Cons

Like any other retail store the days can be long sometimes. Aldi stores tend to operate with a minimum staff, so if someone has an unplanned extended absence things can get rough really quickly for a store manager. The job is VERY physical!!!! Throwing the inbound trucks and handling all the special buy items can be back breaking work. Sometimes even the college kids leave worn out at the end of the day. This is the only aspect of the job that I find really daunting. Sometimes the long hours and extreme physical nature of the job results in injuries (we've had several at our store).

Pros

You do get paid decent, and they are not open late in the evenings.. You get repetitive customers that become your family away from home. I work with alot of girls and get a long with them all fairly well for the most part.

Cons

Seems like it takes forever to move up in the company. There is lots of managers sitting back and letting the cashiers do thier jobs while they pretend to do paper work in the office. The store managers get bonuses for monthly things at the store. Well that person didnt do it themselves yet we get nothing. Even the items per minute, voids, sales sheet that are printed. say, we meet our goals for 3 months give us a bonus. We SHOULD GET SOMETHING AT CHRISTMAS too since we make you millions of dollars a year. we get nothing... transfers within district need to be met. I have been waiting a year and a half now.
