There are better places to work

Pros

Health benefits were pretty good.

Cons

There are unrealistic standards on a ever-growing workload. There are typically 2-5 people on a shift depending on profits of that store. Things are done poorly with time constraints. Such as, not rotating products. Often I have worked rotations to find a case full of expired products, which is a major liability if a customer purchases it. That falls on management as well as the entire company as a whole. Poor management is a major flaw of this company. I have worked at two stores with two different store managers and assistant managers. None demonstrated good leadership. Often, it felt like I was in high school, but these people are all adults. My first store manager, though good at getting the job done, was condescending and harsh; a major reason why many people quit especially without notice. They created a toxic work environment. Often there were conflicts between them and other employees. My second store manager was passive-aggressive and unorganized. They only made something into a major issue if it made them look bad to higher ups. But if there was something that was negatively affecting other employees, without the knowledge of corporate, they took no action to help. Also, they engaged in gossip and subtle insults. Management is selected upon attrition. People tend to quit and find better. Most of the time, managers due not need to interact with customers, so they tend to possess poor customer service and interpersonal skills. Another con is that the ladder upwards is based on spots available. They tend to promote those who don't necessarily deserve it. There many instances where I have seen great workers being overlooked. Eventually, they burnout and leave. The company also does whatever it can to cut cost, by also cutting employee hours. Typically, paychecks are inconsistent due to hours being inconsistent. There will never be a consistent schedule either. Due to the fact store teams are small, if someone calls out for any reason, it's chaos to find coverage. It also means that if there is no coverage, whoever is on shift will struggle greatly to get things done. They also time you on your speed of checking even though it's meaningless. At my store, I was one of the fastest checkers, but I didn't always do whatever it is to trick the computer. As a result, my numbers and percentages weren't as high as those who had something to prove. There are not many pros to this company. Overall, it's a fairly toxic workplace with very bad management.

Pros

Get to sit while at register, water provided, can have drink at register, decent pay, always something to do so never bored, flexible schedule.

Cons

Hours vary greatly. Can be physically demanding and fast paced but thats not necessarily a bad thing. You will get a work out.
