Pros

There is nothing good about working at AMD other than you get a salary to pay for your bills every month.

Cons

Once upon a time I was a very enthusiastic engineer until I spent a few years working for AMD. Working at AMD will destroy you, things here are done terrible, starting for upper management all the way down to engineer level. There is a lot of politics, a lot of management decisions are taken without even considering or asking engineers about the technical side. Most of the teams are very bad, managers have ZERO management skills, everyone knows that things are wrong but at the same time, they know that things wont change. There is an unbelievable LACK of responsibility and ownership. All the time the projects are behind, there is no clear schedules, a lot of cross-site work with Shanghai, India and multiple sites in US, decision making is very slow. People is not recognize for your work, unless you are very very friend of your boss, they will recognize it, because managers are SO SO BAD, that they dont even know what their employees are doing. In summary, this is a nightmare, please stay away from AMD if you can, if you are already working for AMD, wake up! and switch to another company before it is too late.

Pros

- Somewhat flexible working hour (not really) - Free Ice Cream - Friendly Coworker - Good benefit but average basic

Cons

- Toxic management style, boss will gossip behind your back. Your career based on the mood of the boss. - Feedback not taken in seriously, Boss will 'pretend' to listen to feedback but at the back find out who give the 'bad' feedback and force you to change the feedback to a positive one. - Promoting work life balance but in reality force you to work during night time without any OT. - Totally no chance for promotion and promotion based on how 'Famous' you are among the company and how much boss like you rather than based on merit. - Everything happen too suddenly. Imagine you are a rookie in the team. Boss will suddenly throw you into a whole new project without any support but then ask you why you didn't hit their expectation. - Expect you to join more extra work or else will receive low performance review. - Management too rigid and too bureaucrat.

Pros

The money was ok but not considering that they want you to forget you have a life outside of work.

Cons

The disorganization and management/engineering turnover was bad. The schedules are very aggressive and you have to work well outside the standard 9-5 , 40 hour week due to the overall dysfunction. Not a very happy place for engineers.
