Pros

When you are not busy you can just surf the web or play games. But the harder you work the more customers you can help . The more customers that you help the larger your commission check will be.

Cons

ALL the red tape that you have to do because the upper management really does not trust their sales people. You have to check the customers wireline status , grab 4 accessories , then print out the check. and finally write a small essay before the manager gives you a phone. every sale takes about 1 hour at least.

Pros

AT&T management likes to make make sure that you are satified with the projects you are working on and that the company's mission plan fits in with your personal career goals and ambitions. I have received a lot of training during my career with AT&T and realized how far I have come since I started working here. The freedom to create work on good projects as a Software Engineer is correlated with the amibitions and energy you put into it. I have been proud to be a part of a large team that puts out projects we could not have done without the training and suppport management has given.

Pros

Exposure to diverse technologies and new equipment. Knowing that there is money to purchase equipment required.

Cons

The company has epoused the classic AT&T culture, which means things have reverted back to the 1980s or 1970s. Work that would have taken hours takes days. Work that would have taken days takes weeks or months. Things are so process oriented and there are so many layers to prevent work from happening. The company has gone from a streamlined group of go-getters (from SBC days) to an empire of bloat that is focused on job security.
