America gets preference - for progression, for availability of roles, for study recruitment Little progression opportunities for EU Can end up working evenings for American time (see first point - the SPMs are mainly in US) Some times work load is a lot and sometimes it is manageable

Pros

AbbVie is a respected company with an important mission, and many employees across the organization are talented, dedicated, and deeply committed to improving patient outcomes. Good benefits. The challenges I had to overcome with leadership set me up for success in landing my dream job elsewhere.

Cons

My experience within Business Technology Solutions (BTS), was deeply disappointing. Leadership in this area lacks transparency, consistency, and accountability. Expectations were often unclear or constantly shifting, and constructive feedback was minimal or nonexistent. Rather than fostering an environment where employees could raise concerns or challenge ideas for the betterment of the organization, those who spoke up with thoughtful perspectives were often marginalized and reprimanded. The most concerning issue was the apparent absence of leadership accountability. Decisions that significantly impacted employees and team effectiveness were made without clear rationale or communication. Ultimately, I was part of a restructuring where multiple high-performing individuals were laid off without meaningful explanation. In hindsight, it appeared that many of those impacted were individuals who were engaged, thoughtful, and willing to challenge leadership decisions in pursuit of better outcomes for the organization, employees, and ultimately patients. That pattern raises important questions about the culture being cultivated within this group specifically. For a company with such an important mission, it is severely disappointing to see leadership behaviors that undermine trust, collaboration, and long-term effectiveness.
