Pros

Paid time off, annual bonus, consistent work schedule, work for home, low health insurance premium. Great resume builder. Great for those who want to coast into retirement or need a job while raising a family. Great for college grads.

Cons

Diversity exist in silos. Employees are expected to perform two grades above current job title to receive a positive review. Salary increases are minuscule. Don’t accept an extremely low offer with sign on bonus. You’ll regret it. Promotions are 100% political. Negotiate desire job title before accepting position. Managers blocks lateral moves or advancement to other teams. Middle managers are unable to perform and afraid to make decisions. The company culture advertised is very different from the day to day culture. Most people shuffle papers and are paid to not think. Just check boxes. Many “legacy” employees are entitled and unaware of industry standards\norms. Company culture will never change.

Pros

Great culture where high performing individuals can truly make a remarkable impact. Very strong pipeline as well as very good compensation packages and benefits. There are so many extremely smart people that work at Abbvie.

Cons

Work-life balance continues to be a challenge despite vocal efforts driven by senior leadership to improve in that area. A lot of politics in certain areas, and unfortunately too much tolerance for individuals who are known to be bad managers who only survive because of protection from above.

Pros

Excellent pay, benefits, and perks. Gorgeous new building on 94 and 60 (Mettawa, IL) that brings in a lot of sunlight and fresh air and encourages a new mindset of creating good relationships and working well rather than being workaholics trying to preserve one's own position.

Cons

Worked in IT. Terrible bureaucracy (throwing people under the bus to protect oneself) and "this is the way we've always done it" mentality from people who have been there for 30 years (spun off from Abbott in 2013). They are trying to create a new forward-looking team mentality separate from Abbott, but it's slow-going as Abbott lifers do anything to protect their positions until they retire.
