Pros

Laptops are configured correctly to support development work (software engineering).

Cons

1. Management did not provide me with any plan to gain proficiency in this role or in the travel industry. As a software engineer, lacking domain knowledge of the travel industry can make it challenging to thrive in this company. 2. Recommendations made by engineers, leads, and architects are often overridden by the "business". 3. The company's business model typically only prioritizes improvements if they are paid for by partners, resulting in infrequent common upgrades to applications and services. The software framework versions are also outdated. 4. During my code review, I noticed poor code quality, with few standards, inadequate unit tests, no code validation, and other issues. 5. There is a culture of defensiveness among many engineers which leads to hostility towards suggestions for improvement and complaints to management. This creates a hostile work environment that causes anxiety. 6. The company is reluctant to approve travel and offers limited support for continuing education to enhance skills. 7. Some leads express frustration with HR and the company's hiring practices. Instead of dismissing a non-trusted engineer, they are passed around to different departments. 8. The company's long-standing employees do not necessarily indicate a positive work environment, as some have become overly defensive, making it challenging to introduce new ideas. 9. The company discourages personal work, writing, and speaking at conferences, and mentioning these interests may lead to complaints to management from other developers.

Pros

I've been with Navitaire since the Accenture days and have enjoyed my job. Until the last few years, the company seemed like a big family and it was a very friendly and stable place to work. My coworkers are some of the brightest people I've ever known.

Cons

Navitaire lacks leadership. The C-Level likes to lead from afar and when they engage with employees they are embarrassingly out of touch and aloof. Lately, there have been questionable hires. Navitaire has had 3 different development directors over the last 3 years. Two of the three know nothing about the airline industry but are allowed to set the direction for our development strategy. Sidelining the dev director who built Navitaire in favor of flashy new guys with zero airline experience was a really really bad idea. There are some good dev managers, but most got promoted due to how long they've been with the company and not qualifications or management experience. Now there are a lot who have no leadership training or management experience but are in charge of large teams. We've lost talented and tenured team members because they lost respect for those in charge of things. Hopefully Navitaire can figure out the management and leadership crisis that plagues us before the intellectual capital leaves.

Pros

Good overseas colleagues. That is pretty much it.

Cons

Indian management is the worst. Amadues as a company is good if you join any other location apart form India. In India the working culture is toxic and the tech stack here is a joke.
