Pros

Good pay if you negotiate up front. Vacation for the most part is always allowed.

Cons

Work is consistently pushing you to fit the company culture, talking in there corporate lingo, and nothing is ever good enough. Always something more to do.

Cons

Hard to balance work and life. It is always work work work until before getting sleep. On-call work is challenging. Frequent page at 2am, 3 am. Hard to get promoted from SDE2 to SDE3. Not very straightforward to get promoted at this point. High performance pressure. RTO 5 days is challenging if commute time is long. Base salary hasn't increased well recently even with promotion.
